Every month will be spotlighting salons across the US. This month we interviewed Ann Akre, Owner of Venus Allure Salon & Spa in Portland, Oregon & 1st place winner of June 2010 photo contest.
1. How did you get started in the beauty industry?
I had my cosmetology license years ago but
recently got back into and took up more education in the “holistic”
skin care school and got my esthetician license in Portland. After subleasing
a room to do my esthetic work at small salon, I decided to open up my own SALON
& SPA.
2. What inspires you to go to work everyday?
To grow my business and take care of my staff.
3. What do you think makes a salon successful?
Return clients means happy clients.
4. What inspired the look of your salon?
I travel to a lot of different states and country
and get ideas from different salon and spas. I combine the best ideas from
these places and apply them to my idea salon spa!
5. Do you have any advice for stylists thinking about opening their own salon?
To have a good staff of people and make sure your clients are
happy. Happy clients mean return clients equal to money.
